What is the celc?

The Canadian Engineering Leadership Conference (CELC) is the CFES’ largest annual student-run conference of the year at that year’s respective host school and is the perfect way for engineering students from across the country to ring in the new year! CELC has two primary objectives. The first is that CELC is the annual general meeting of the CFES and the second is that it provides a platform from which students can collaborate with and learn from our industry partners, sponsors and fellow students. CELC also hosts the platform in which the new CFES executive team members are elected.

Attracting between 150 and 200 delegates from over 50 engineering schools from coast to coast, CELC is a great opportunity to reach out and engage engineering student leaders from every institution and field of engineering. This national transfer of knowledge is invaluable, as it provides students with tangible, real-life examples and advice on how to improve their personal and professional skills, their engineering societies and their faculty as a whole. CELC boasts a wide range of speakers and topics ranging from professional presentations from our sponsors and industry partners to student-led round-tables and panels that dissect the finer points of running student organizations.

The CFES strongly believes that CELC is an incredible opportunity for engineering students to expand their learning beyond the classroom and to provide the maximum possible benefit to themselves, their Engineering Student Organization and their Engineering Faculty.

What is CSE?

The Conference on Sustainability in Engineering (CSE) is an annual, student-led conference dedicated to empowering the next generation of engineers towards a greener future. CSE was created with the goal to bring together students and industry leaders from across Canada to discuss innovative ideas and reconsider how they can make a positive impact in sustainability.

Regardless of what engineering discipline, students will learn how to prioritize and reconsider what they know about sustainability, and their own individual impact. This is a unique opportunity to interact with students from across the country and be inspired to challenge the current status quo. CSE is a movement, inviting students to lead with purpose, drive impactful solutions and pave the way towards a sustainable world.

What is the cec?

The Canadian Engineering Competition (CEC) is the only annual CFES student-run competition run at that year’s respective host school. CEC brings together over 200 of the most innovative and creative engineering undergraduate students from across the nation to compete against each other in eight categories (Junior Design, Senior Design, Innovative Design, Engineering Consulting, Parliamentary Debate, Re-engineering, Programming, and Engineering Communication). Each competition category at CEC challenges its participants to expand their frame of reference and to identify solutions to problems experienced by our profession.

CEC is a highly selective competition. Those invited must first best their peers at their own intra-school competition, and then must achieve a top performance at their respective regional competition. They are:

The competition represents a valuable opportunity for industry participation and support, and sponsors and contributors propose real-world case studies for competition themes. The judges are drawn from related industry fields, or academia, and share their experiences with the competitors throughout the weekend as they network with the top up-and-coming engineers.
